JOBS-FOCUSED

SOCIAL ENTERPRISES

What are jobs-focused social enterprises?

A jobs or employment-focused social enterprise focuses on creating meaningful employment for disadvantaged Australians.  According to the FASES report, nearly 7,000 of all social enterprises in Australia have employment-based support or employment creation as their main focus.

“Training and support costs vary by participant. People come with lots of different needs, and they change substantially over time. Support needs to be highly flexible and personalised, and available on demand. There are no "cookie cutter" solutions - and as a sector we need to be careful not to fall into the trap of trying to implement them, or we risk recreating some of the same unhelpful processes that job-active agencies engage in.” Whitebox Enterprises Rate Card Survey

Jobs-focused Social Enterprises have two modes:

    1. Transitional employment (outcome to exit ratios measurements)

    Or

    2. Destination employment (they employ people from certain categories intentionally)
